Welcome to Sunset Reminder, created by Nature Backs. By downloading and using this App, you agree to these Terms of Service.
1. Description of Service
The App provides sunset and sunrise time notifications based on your location, a personal sunset photo journal, and the ability to share sunset photos with friends. Photos shared between friends expire after 24 hours.
2. User Accounts
You may use the App without an account for basic sunset time and journal features. To use social features (adding friends, sending sunset photos), you must create an account using your phone number. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account.
3. User Content
By sharing sunset photos through the App, you retain ownership of your content. You grant Nature Backs a limited license to transmit, store, and display your photos solely for the purpose of delivering them to your intended recipients. Shared photos are automatically deleted from our servers after 24 hours.
4. Usage Restrictions
Do not misuse the App, including attempting to reverse engineer, hack, or modify it. Do not use the App to share inappropriate, offensive, or unlawful content. Do not harass other users or use the App for any unlawful activities.
5. Disclaimer of Warranties
The App is provided "as is" and without warranties of any kind. We are not responsible for technical errors, including inaccuracies in sunset times or notification failures.
6. Limitation of Liability
We are not liable for damages arising from your use of the App, including missed notifications, data inaccuracies, or loss of photos.
7. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
8. Modifications to Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Users will be notified of significant changes through the App.

Privacy Policy

At Nature Backs, we are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use Sunset Reminder.
1. Information We Collect
Location Data: The App uses your location to calculate sunset and sunrise times for your area. Location data is processed on your device and is not stored on our servers.
Phone Number: If you create an account for social features, we collect your phone number for authentication purposes via Firebase Authentication.
Photos: Sunset photos you capture are stored locally on your device in your journal. Photos you share with friends are temporarily stored on our servers (Firebase Cloud Storage) and automatically deleted after 24 hours.
Display Name: If you create an account, we store your chosen display name to identify you to your friends.
Push Notification Tokens: If you enable notifications, we store your device's push notification token to deliver sunset reminders and friend activity alerts.
2. How We Use Your Information
Location data is used solely to calculate sunset and sunrise times and deliver timed notifications.
Phone numbers are used only for account authentication. We do not use your phone number for marketing.
Photos shared with friends are transmitted and stored temporarily (24 hours) to deliver them to your intended recipients.
Push tokens are used only to send sunset reminders and notify you when a friend shares a sunset with you.
3. Data Storage and Security
Account data and shared photos are stored using Google Firebase, which provides industry-standard security. Shared photos are automatically deleted after 24 hours. Your personal journal photos are stored only on your device and are never uploaded unless you choose to share them.
4. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services:
Firebase Authentication (Google) for phone number verification.
Firebase Cloud Storage (Google) for temporary photo storage when sharing with friends.
Firebase Cloud Firestore (Google) for account and social feature data.
Expo Push Notification Service for delivering notifications.
These services have their own privacy policies. We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Your data is only shared with the third-party services listed above as necessary to provide the App's functionality.
6. User Control
You can disable location services, camera access, or notifications in your device settings at any time.
You can delete your account and associated data by contacting us at matt@naturebacks.com.
Uninstalling the App will stop all data collection and remove your local journal data.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the App evolves. Significant changes will be communicated through the App.
