About a third of this country is land that belongs to no one and everyone. 640 million acres of national forest, BLM, parks, wilderness — places anyone can walk onto, free, for as long as they want.

There's a piece of that public domain about to be lost. Big Bear Lake, California — 62.8 acres on the north shore. It's the foraging ground of Jackie and Shadow, the bald eagle pair on the live nest cam that 2.6 million people watch. If $10 million isn't raised by July 31, 2026, the parcel gets developed — 50 luxury homes, a 55-slip marina, less than a mile from the nest. The eagles likely leave.

If the deadline is met, the land transfers to the U.S. Forest Service as a permanent addition to San Bernardino National Forest. Public, in perpetuity.

The woman who fought for this for 25 years — Sandy Steers — negotiated the purchase deal from her deathbed and died eleven days before the fundraiser launched. Her last public words: "We need everyone to become Jackie and Shadow's hero." Jackie's two chicks this spring were named Sandy and Luna. Sandy is on the nest right now.

100% of the profits from this shirt go to the San Bernardino Mountains Land Trust, the 501(c)(3) buying the land.
